Gender Discrimination in Employment: BRICS Countries Overview

This article investigates the phenomenon of gender equality in employment BRICS countries where it is one factors hampering economic development and basic human rights. The authors examine international obligations these states under rights treaties United Nations Organization (UNO) International Labour (ILO), compare national anti-discriminatory norms with standards (ILO Conventions Convention on Elimination all Forms Discrimination Against Women) evaluate observations relevant bodies recently adopted respect states. In particular, activities Committee Women ILO Experts Application Recommendations are reviewed. paragraphs that follow, legislation case-laws examined. Furthermore, reasons for persistent stereotypes labor market, as well general attitude toward women’s roles society each country identify obstacles to achieving true workplace formulate recommendations improving protections against discrimination women ensuring equal access promotion.
